Privacy Policy

Watchless is designed to keep source media and working files on your Mac. This policy explains what stays local, what outside services may receive, and what we retain to run the business.

The short version

Your video and audio stay on your Mac. Quick Capture does not send source content for AI analysis. Knowledge Pack sends the transcript and basic source details to the Watchless managed service. Visual Evidence also sends up to eight resized JPEG frames. The finished files are saved in your local Watchless workspace. We do not sell personal information.

Information we collect

  • Contact details you provide, such as your name and email address.
  • Purchase and license records, including product, amount, currency, payment status, refund status, and Stripe identifiers. Watchless does not receive or store full card numbers.
  • Support messages and any files or diagnostics you deliberately send to us.
  • Basic website and security logs supplied by Cloudflare, such as request time, IP address, browser information, and requested page.
  • Download records used to deliver software and investigate abuse, including entitlement, release, time, and truncated network identifiers where available.

Local app data, project setup, and managed analysis

Watchless creates ordinary folders on your Mac for captures, transcripts, knowledge files, project cards, exports, and logs. The app does not upload your video or audio to the managed analysis service.

Project setup is optional. If you connect GitHub, you choose which repositories the Watchless GitHub App can read. During sync, Watchless retrieves repository metadata and may read README files to create project descriptions. The service retains the GitHub installation identifier, account name, repository count, connection status, and sync timestamps. It does not retain GitHub access tokens or repository file contents.

If you approve a local project folder, Watchless treats that folder as a watched project root. It periodically checks that root for Git repositories and reads bounded package metadata and README text. New repositories inside the approved root join the local index automatically. Hidden folders, symlinks, common dependency and build folders, and common archive folders are skipped. Watched-root paths and repository paths remain in the local project registry on your Mac. You can instead continue without projects.

When you choose Knowledge Pack, the app sends the transcript, limited source details, and up to 50 recently active sanitized project cards when configured. Missing projects are excluded. Project cards contain bounded IDs, names, descriptions, and keywords; GitHub credentials, repository URLs, watched-root paths, and local repository paths are excluded. When you choose Visual Evidence, it also sends up to eight resized JPEG frames selected from the source. Watchless sends those analysis inputs to OpenAI and requests that the response not be stored by setting store: false. OpenAI still processes the request under the terms and data controls that apply to the Watchless service account. Under OpenAI's default API controls, content may remain in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days; eligible account-level data controls can change that period. See OpenAI's API data controls.

When managed analysis is unavailable, Quick Capture can still create local media, audio, transcript, and chapter files.

How we use information

  • Process purchases, issue licenses, and deliver downloads.
  • Provide support, refunds, product updates, and security notices.
  • Maintain billing, tax, audit, and fraud-prevention records.
  • Protect the website, private downloads, and owner administration tools.
  • Improve Watchless using support patterns and aggregate operational information, not the private contents of your local source library.

Service providers

Cloudflare hosts the website, private release storage, managed analysis endpoint, access controls, and operational database. Stripe processes checkout and billing when online purchasing is enabled. Apple signs and notarizes the Mac app. OpenAI processes transcript text and, for Visual Evidence, the selected resized frames used for managed analysis.

Retention and choices

Watchless does not store raw transcripts or frames in its operational database. A sanitized structured analysis result may be cached for up to 24 hours so a safe retry can return the same result without charging another included analysis. Apart from that short-lived result cache, retained analysis records may include an analysis identifier, device and entitlement identifiers, status, model, token counts, estimated cost, timing, and a sanitized error code. Those operational records do not include transcript text, frame data, the generated package body, or plaintext provider and device credentials.

We keep billing and transaction records as required for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, and legal obligations. Support records are kept only as long as useful for the issue and normal business records. You can ask to access, correct, or delete eligible personal information. Some transaction records cannot be deleted immediately where law requires retention.
